Do I need an account somewhere else?
Yes. Casu is independent client software for your own account on a CFTC-regulated US exchange, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any exchange. You open and fund that account yourself and generate an API key there, then trade under the exchange’s own rules and fees. Casu never holds your money, takes deposits, or places trades you did not ask for. Worth doing before you buy: mock mode needs no account at all, but live trading cannot start until yours is open and funded.
Can I try it before paying?
Yes. Mock is free: install with one paste and trade synthetic markets with fake money, no key and no signup. Paper and live trading need the subscription.
What can I actually trade with it?
The markets that open and settle every fifteen minutes, around the clock. Today those are crypto and commodities, and each one asks the same question: is the price above or below a set level when the window closes. You take the yes side or the no side, in contracts that cost cents. Enter at the market price, or set a buy-stop that fires itself when the price reaches a level you name.
Can I lose money doing this?
Yes. These are fast markets and a contract can go to zero in minutes. Stops cap your downside but can’t guarantee a price: a stop-loss is a market order, and in a gapping market it can fill below your level. Casu is a risk-management tool, not a profit machine, and nothing on this site is financial advice.
What do I need to run it?
Windows 10/11 or macOS. The one-paste install brings everything with it, including its own runtime: no prerequisites, no admin rights, nothing system-wide. Use it on as many of your own computers as you like.
Do I have to keep my computer on?
For stops to fire, yes. The engine is the thing watching the market and it runs on your machine, so if it is off, asleep or offline, nothing is watching and a stop cannot fire until it is back. The install registers Casu to start at login and restart after a crash, and it comes back with your brackets armed, but the gap is real: size positions you would be willing to hold through one, and remember the exchange itself has no stop-loss to fall back on. That is the honest tradeoff of software that runs on your machine instead of ours.
Where does my API key live?
In a local file on your machine, read only by Casu and sent only to the exchange. It is never sent to us and never leaves your machine for anywhere else. Casu also refuses connections from anywhere but your own machine.
How do I cancel?
Cancel yourself in the billing portal, linked in the footer. No email, no retention call, no reason required. Cancelling stops the next charge and leaves the current period running. After that, every stop-loss you already armed keeps firing and you can always close, sell or cancel. What stops is opening anything new in paper or live, while mock stays free: losing access should never be able to trap you in a position, so the license gates entering risk and never exiting it. If something is genuinely broken for you, email support@casu.io and ask. Refunds are handled case by case rather than by a policy designed to say no.
